Putting on the Ritz with a High Tea

Awhile back, Kathy Patrick of the Pulpwood Queens Book Club invited me to come to Jefferson, TX to do an event for her church youth group. I didn’t have to think twice before I said yes! It was a sweet, sweet evening . . . and great fun to be back in Jefferson. The FUMC ladies and Pulpwood Queens of East Texas know how to throw a real party. All proceeds from the event went to the church youth group for their upcoming mission trip to Kentucky. Great group of kids!

Decorations: Individual placemat (Scrapbook Pages – each one unique!), china cups and saucers, tea-sized cloth napkins (Some were vintage hankies and were darling!), a tube of lip balm at each place because every girl needs to always look her best (thank you, Kathy!). Teapots filled with fresh roses were the centerpieces. Pastor Allison’s teapot collection was displayed on two other tables as well – divine!!

Menu: Oh goodness. Chicken salad croissants, homemade pimiento cheese sandwiches, cucumber sandwiches, scones, lemon curd and lime curd thumbprint cookies, shortbread, tea cakes, blonde brownies, cheese biscuits, homemade macaroons (which were said to be low calorie, but you would never know from the taste – just delish!), million dollar bars (should be called million calorie bars), and assorted hot teas. (I know I’ve forgotten something – it was a feast!)

Are you hungry yet?

The pics were too good to keep to myself, so I just had to share them. Enjoy!

Pastor Allison brought her teapot collection - I didn't even get pics of all of them.

A wonderful evening to play dress up, talk about books (I spoke for a few minutes about Sweet Dreams and the inspiration behind it). Best of all, though, was the warm conversation and making cherished memories with a lovely group of ladies.

How’s your summer going? Have you ever been to a High Tea?
