Lazy Hazy Crazy Days

According to social networking experts, the worst thing you can do is abandon your blog or blog inconsistently. According to mental health experts, you must take time to step away from your life and re-examine once in a while – take a break, so to speak. Hmmm. If you follow my blog, you will see that the last time I posted was on June 25, more than two weeks ago. I have committed a blogging crime, but I’ve also cleared my head and done some long overdue R & R, so if I said I was sorry for not being here, that’s not entirely true. However, like seeing an old friend, I’m glad to be back and am just going to share some of the “fun” of the last few weeks.

Yep, it’s that time of year – the lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer. To get you in the groove, here’s a video reminder:

As for us, Max got this cute Groundhog cover for his golf clubs from #1 son, and Max has been hanging out on the links every chance he gets:

Caddyshack anyone?

We had a nice dinner at our favorite pub for Father’s Day with #4 son and his wife.

Max and James

It’s just not summer without baseball, so I took a road trip to watch these two play ball. I’m so proud of my grandsons!

The baseball boys and their little sister came last week to spend the Fourth with Mimi and Papa Max. The boys weren’t still long enough for a photo, but here’s one of our granddaughter riding the ponies at the church picnic. She rode three different ones and would’ve kept riding if it hadn’t been time for the fireworks.

I might not have mentioned this before, but we’ve had a long run of boys on my side of the family, so when our granddaughter came along, it was a big deal! And once it started, we’ve had a flood of little girls. Three more from my sister Marsha’s boys. Nothing so sweet as little girls. Aunt Donna found these cute clothes and sent them, so we had a fashion show.

Fun times. Not so lazy, but it’s been a nice break. I’ve cleaned a few closets, read a half dozen novels, restocked the pantry, and started cooking regular meals again. Honestly, I don’t see how Max has put up with me after book deadlines, book release parties, and a round of edits. I’m not ready to start on another book just yet, but I will be back here next week with a series that I’m really excited about. A little teaser: it’s related to Stardust (an August pick of the Pulpwood Queens Book Club!) and tourist courts and a vintage movie that will knock your socks off!

What are you doing to celebrate the lazy days of summer?
