- ride a bike
- bait a fish hook
- open a pasture fence gate
- give a tenth back of whatever I had
You were there
- for my first broken bone
- to pick me up from band trips
- to give me away at my wedding
- when I walked across the stage for my college diploma
You gave me
- memories of a great childhood
- a taste for coffee
- a love for travel and adventure
- the gift of having a dad who loved me
I’ve heard you
- laugh and cry, sometimes in the same breath
- tell tall tales
- haggle until you got a good deal
- say grace at the table
You’re not perfect, but you’ve given me the tools to live in an imperfect world and thrive. You’re 86 years young, come July, and the world is a better place because you’ve walked its paths. Thanks for being you!
