Celebrating Our Fortieth Anniversary – Has it really been that long?

On this day forty years ago, we said “I do.” Surrounded by family and friends, in the presence of God, we pledged that for better or worse, in sickness and health, in poverty or in wealth, to love, honor and cherish til death do us part. Most of the details of that day are a blur for me, a naive twenty-two-year-old who’d spoken holy vows with a guy who knew about as much about it as I did.

We. Were. Clueless.

We went through a hailstorm on the way to the honeymoon hotel a couple of towns down the road, and once nestled in our room, we toasted with the bubbly one of the groomsmen had tucked in Max’s arm as we left. Which pretty much sums it all up after forty years. We’ve had storms and we’ve had celebrations too many to count. It’s been an amazing life, and I can’t imagine walking this road with anyone else. Til death do us part. Which hopefully, by God’s grace, is another few decades on the horizon.

Take note of the groovy seventies style!

It doesn’t get much better than this. Happy Anniversary, my love!
